In 1974, Allen University conferred upon Ophelia DeVore Mitchell the degree of Doctor of Human Letters. Universities invited her to speak on her legacy and to analyze current issues and events.
She produced cable TV shows which recognized achievements of unsung heroes of color.
Not surprisingly, in 1992 she was approached by acclaimed author and photojournalist, Brian Lanker, to be one of 75 Legendary African-American Women featured in the bestseller, “I Dream a World.”
